Nepgear's appearance is similar to Neptune's. A girl who loves her older sister with all her heart. So, when the opportunity arose to review Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed on PC (from Tamsoft and Idea Factory), I jumped at it.
Unfortunately, Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed does little justice to the Neptunia franchise. Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed Choose your tag team and rip through massive hordes of enemies with exciting aerial and ground-based combos. The dialogue will leave you laughing and it’s just plain fun to beat up hordes of enemies.

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed. It was developed by Tamsoft (Senran Kagura) while Compile Heart published it. The battles are real-time and not turn based like all the other games. Rather than a turn-based JRPG, like most of the series, Action Unleashed is a Dynasty Warriors-style Hack’nSlash game. This is an action spinoff of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series made by Tamsoft, the same developers who made Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus and Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection. Like the latter game, one may notice that the game is lacking in actual content, with the main campaign taking a whopping 6 hours to complete to 100%. Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is the third spin-off game in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, the others being Producing Perfection and Hyperdevotion Noire. With tiny arena environments, absolutely nothing to explore and gameplay that doesn't vary in the slightest from one stage to the next, Neptunia U is a disappointing mix of wasted potential. The third spin-off game in the Neptunia series, Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed (Chōjigen Action Neptune U) is a Hack and Slash game for the PlayStation Vita and the first hack and slash entry in the series. Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is a risky change that pays off, capitalizing on all the campy fun of the series while mixing in Tamsoft’s excellent knack for brawler combat.
Some minor hitches aside, this is a great beat ‘em up, and hopefully the start of many Neptunia brawlers to come.
